Getting Started in HRE2O Christ and Culture

The Grade 10 Christ and Culture course invites and challenges the adolescent to personalize the Gospel values and social justice principles that guide Catholics in understanding their role in shaping culture as disciples of Jesus.

This resource has been created by educators for educators to assist with students for whom reading and language pose significant difficulties. The goal is to serve diverse learners in a language heavy curriculum. There are a series of lessons that include assessment for and of learning in each of the five categories: Scripture, Profession of Faith, Christian Moral Development, Prayer and Sacramental Life and Family Life.

Our Language, Our Story; The Promise of Discipleship, Character Development Through the Virtues provides some rich activities and resources for the discussion of Virtue, Faith and Culture.  The faith lessons are cross-curricular and meet several expectations from the Religious Education, English, the Arts, Canadian and World Studies, and Civics curricular areas. In this resource, the study of virtues will be through the lens of contemporary society. As we begin, we are challenged to use our beliefs and critical thinking to appreciate, discover, explore, and learn. Developing this dignified and respectful approach, we will be able to learn about and experience the virtues in a dynamic way and develop a greater appreciation and understanding of self, others, and the Divine

​Our Language, Our Story is the Eastern Ontario Catholic Curriculum Corporation’s character development resource for Catholic teachers in the junior and intermediate divisions. It uses the Theological and Cardinal Virtues as points of reference for student learning and activities.

Release of Teacher Resources to Support the Secondary Religious Education Curriculum Policy Document 

In collaboration and with the support of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario and Catholic school boards in the province of Ontario, the Institute for Catholic Education (ICE) has developed teacher resources (Grades 9-12) to support the implementation of the Secondary Religious Education Curriculum Policy Document (2016).
