JUNIOR/INTERMEDIATE MATH THROUGH AN INDIGENOUS LENS
Take some time this summer to look at Mathematics through the lens of Indigenous pedagogy. Join us as we explore the learning experiences developed in the EOCCC resource for junior and intermediate divisions, in partnership with OECTA, entitled Called to Learn, Act and Reflect through Indigenous Teachings and Experiential Mathematics for Catholic Educators. Indigenous pedagogy and cultural practices such as smudging, sharing circles, storytelling, games, music and place-based learning will be the centerpiece of the hands-on learning as we unpack the four learning experiences provided in the resource and provide take-aways and experiences which will allow the participant to feel confident and prepared to use this resource in their practice. All math strands will be covered through these learning experiences.
Hosted by EOCCC in partnership with OECTAWe encourage those from out of town to stay overnight in Cornwall
as OECTA is subsidizing $200 for travel/accommodation for each participant. 835 Campbell St. Cornwall, ON K6H 4H2 613-703-1752 August 22, 2017 10:00 am to 3:00 pm August 23, 2017 8:30am to 1:30 pm Lunches and snacks included. |
